What zodiac sign are people born in October?
People born in October belong in astrological tradition to 2 zodiac signs. From October 1 to October 22 the Sun is in Libra, an air sign. From October 23 to October 31 the Sun is in Scorpio, a water sign. Astrologers read the sign of the Sun as a way to describe how a person moves through decisions, relationships and conflicts.
Libra: birthdays from October 1 to October 22
People born from October 1 to October 22 are Libra in astrological tradition. Libra is an air sign, so astrologers associate it with talking things through, weighing options and looking for a fair result. In a group, Libra people often try to keep discussions balanced, hearing all sides before choosing a direction.
Birthdays on October 1–2 belong to the Libra I decan. October 3–12 are in the Libra II decan, and October 13–22 in the Libra III decan. Astrologers use decans to add nuance inside the same sign, for example in how quickly a person reacts or how strongly they seek harmony when plans change.
Scorpio: birthdays from October 23 to October 31
People born from October 23 to October 31 are Scorpio in astrological tradition. Scorpio is a water sign, linked by astrologers with emotional depth, focus and a need to get to the heart of a matter. In conversation, Scorpio people may prefer honest, direct talks over surface small talk, even if this means facing tension.
All October Scorpio birthdays, from October 23 to 31, belong to the Scorpio I decan. Astrologers often describe this as a concentrated version of Scorpio traits. These people may commit strongly once they decide on a plan, a partner or a position in a debate, and can find it hard to pretend they feel neutral.
The zodiac cusp in October
The boundary between Libra and Scorpio in October is not the same every year. Between 1930 and 2030, using US Eastern Time, the Sun entered Scorpio on October 22 in some years, on October 23 in most years and on October 24 in a few years. The hour also changes from year to year.
This means people born near the change, especially on October 22–24, need the full birth data to know the Sun sign. The exact date, place and time decide whether the Sun was in late Libra or in early Scorpio. An online birth chart tool can check the sign for a given year and help clarify this cusp area.
