Reflector
Reflectors (about 1%) are the mirrors of the community — their open centers reflect everything. Strategy: wait for a full lunar cycle (28 days).
Reflector — the mirror of society
The Reflector is the rarest Type in Human Design — it constitutes only 1% of the population. It has all 9 centers open, which means it reflects and amplifies the energies of its surroundings. It is a living barometer of the health of the community in which it lives.
How to recognize a Reflector?
A Reflector has all 9 undefined centers (white). It is the only Type with such a configuration. It has no fixed, internal energy — it experiences the world through the lens of its environment.
Strategy: Wait for a full lunar cycle (28 days)
The Reflector's strategy is unique — before making any important decision, it should wait 28 days to experience it through all phases of the moon. Why?
- The moon passes through all 64 gates in 28 days
- In each phase, the Reflector experiences a different energy
- Only after a full cycle can it make a decision with complete clarity
Signature and Not-Self
Signature: Surprise — when living in a healthy environment, it experiences a continuous awe at the diversity of life.
Not-Self: Disappointment — when living in a toxic environment, it feels deep disappointment and confusion.
Characteristics of the Reflector
- Mirror — reflects the health and energy of the surroundings
- Objectivity — can see things from a perspective that no one else has
- Sensitivity — feels emotions and energies at the deepest level
- Variability — is different every day, depending on the environment
- Wisdom of sampling — samples various experiences without attachment
Challenges of the Reflector
- Identity — “Who am I?” is the hardest question for the Reflector
- Environment — the health of the Reflector depends on the quality of its surroundings
- Loneliness — no one truly understands it
- Patience — the 28-day wait requires immense patience
Reflector in relationships and career
Relationships: The Reflector must consciously choose its environment. A partner should understand its variability and not try to “fix” it.
Career: Ideal in roles requiring objectivity: judge, critic, team barometer, coach. A healthy, supportive work environment is key.
Environment — the key to the Reflector's life
For the Reflector, place and people are the most important elements of life. A toxic environment literally poisons it. Key questions for the Reflector:
- Does this place make me feel good?
- Are the people around me energetically healthy?
- Do I have space to be myself (or many selves)?
